You can now set a minimum and maximum number of characters for open questions and open answer fields. This gives you more control over the length of responses in your survey.
What can you configure?
Maximum number of characters:
The default is set to 2500 characters. You can lower this to a minimum of 1 character, but it can never exceed 2500.Minimum number of characters:
You can require respondents to enter a minimum number of characters, between 0 and 2499.
Where can you set this?
In Crowdtech Survey, each open question or open answer field now includes two additional fields to define the minimum and maximum number of characters:
Edit your question
Click the three dots next to the answer field. Make sure this is an open field type. For example, choose "open (small)" or "number" under "Answer type".Enable 'Restrictions'
Select "Maximum number of characters" under "Restrictions".Fill in the 'minimum number of characters' and 'maximum number of characters'
Click 'Next'
Save the question by clicking 'Save'
What changes for the respondent?
Character counter:
If a custom maximum is set, a counter will appear in the bottom right of the input field in the questionnaire (e.g., 0/500). This shows how many characters have been entered and the maximum allowed. When using the default value of 2500 characters, the counter remains hidden.Maximum limit:
Respondents cannot exceed the set maximum if a custom value is defined.Error message:
If a respondent enters fewer characters than the minimum, they will see the error message: "Minimum number of characters not reached".

What happens if you remove the custom limit?
If you remove the custom maximum limit, the system reverts to the default of 2500 characters, and the character counter will no longer be shown in the questionnaire.
