Go to 'Respondents' in the menu and click on 'Import' under 'Respondents'. Here you can upload a CSV file with the respondents' data, the so-called data enrichment.

What does the upload look like?
The first row of an upload contains the name of the data type you want fill. For example:
In the second row you enter the data per respondent. The file must be at least contain one column.
Create a CSV file
For example, you can process the data in the Excel program. To the file then to be able to upload you have to save the file as a CSV file (*csv). To do this, go to 'File' in Excel and choose 'Save As'. Save the data not as 'Excel workbook' but as 'CSV UTF-8 (*csv)'. You can download the file upload now.
The first data enrichment upload
- Go to 'Respondents' in the menu and click on 'Import' under 'Respondents'. You can drag or select the CSV file onto the page via the explorer by clicking the frame.
- Check that the first lines of the columns contain the correct names. Select 'Yes' if the file contains column names. Click 'No' if you still have it want to add on the next page. Click 'Next'.
- Check that the column names are correct. If the names are not correct you can change them here. If the column name contains special texts, you can place them here to check. You can also select which columns should be imported. Click on 'Next' if everything is correct.
- Do you have the access of the study set to "Only email addresses from list" or "Only codes from list"? Then select the desired way in which respondents can log in. Choose for example at "Login 1" the e-mail address. You can also double login by using "Login 2". This is an extra security and can be used to get respondents to complete the same survey more often and email automatically, like a employee satisfaction survey.
- Click on 'Import'. Depending on the size of the file, it may sometimes take a while to upload. You can look back in the history or under 'Respondents' see whether the data has been imported into the study.
After importing the data, this icon appears at the right edge of the menu: . Click to open the available enrichment variables and imported data enrichment. Both are shown with different parentheses. The variables are recognizable by [{variable}] and the data enrichment by [[data enrichment]].
You can use the enrichment variables [[Name]] and [[Email address]] in the text of the processing research. For example, you can send an e-mail or in the questionnaire write to the respondent personally by placing [[Name]] in the text.
The second upload of data enrichment
Do you have a change in the data enrichment that you want to implement? You can all update data except the fixed login columns (Login 1 and Login 2). Upload the new CSV file. On a second import, existing column names are automatically recognized and linked. You can see per column what happens during the import of the following icons:
The content of existing login columns does not change. Becoming unique combinations always recognized. Does the combination not exist? Then a new respondent will be created. You can recognize the login columns by the icon.
The column names are recognized and contents can be updated.
The column name was not recognized. You can link the contents of these columns to existing ones enrichment variable in the dropdown. You can also add a new column name by typing a name in the open field and next to the field on the icon to click. You remove the existing link by clicking the icon.
Add new participants and/or update existing participants
From January 1, 2023, a new way to import data enrichment into Survey has been introduced. Previously you could only add new participants or replace your entire data enrichment. Now that is no longer necessary: you can also update existing information.
With the option 'Add new participants', existing email addresses and data enrichment are skipped, and therefore not added again. Only new email addresses with data enrichment are added.
With the option 'Add new participants and update existing participants' you update the data enrichment of the existing respondents and add new email addresses and data enrichment.
Click on 'Import' to add the new file and existing values to update.
Add new respondent
If you use login columns (Login 1 and Login 2), unique combinations always recognized. Does the combination not exist? Then a new respondent will be created. So you cannot update the content of these columns, but you can supplement them. Still made a mistake that you want to recover? Then remove the data enrichment and add the correct file.
Remove data enrichment
In the menu, go to 'Research' and 'Research'. Under 'Actions' you will find the option to "Remove Data Enrichment". With 20 or more completes you can use the data enrichment no longer delete. All respondents, answers given and imported enrichment variables are removed with this. Features that used of the enrichment variables (such as anonymization, retention period and conditions based on data enrichment) will no longer work after this. Type DELETE to delete to confirm.
