Online questionnaires from government agencies must be digitally accessible to everyone – including people with disabilities. For example, blind users must be able to listen to the content (such as questions, answers, explanations, etc.) using their own screen reader software. By offering content in the right way, it becomes usable for all. To ensure this, your questionnaire must comply with the international WCAG 2.1 guidelines. With Crowdtech Insights, you can create questionnaires that meet the WCAG 2.2 AA guidelines.
WCAG Principles
There are 45 different criteria divided into 4 core principles of digital accessibility. Below you can read more about these principles, including examples.
Perceivable
“Information and user interface components must be presented to users in ways they can perceive.”
An example is adding an ALT text to every image, allowing people with visual impairments to understand the content and context.
Another example is using sufficient color contrast – for instance, the theme color should have a contrast ratio of at least 3:1.
Operable
“User interface components and navigation must be operable.”
For example, users should have enough time to complete questionnaires.
Another example: the focus order must be consistent so that users can navigate through the website logically and predictably.
Understandable
“Information and the operation of the user interface must be understandable.”
One example is ensuring that text is properly read aloud by screen reader software.
Another example is that, when using buttons, the purpose of the link must be clear.
Robust
“Content must be robust enough to be interpreted reliably by a wide variety of user agents, including assistive technologies.”
An example is that media content, such as videos and audio files, is accessible through the use of subtitles, transcripts, or audio descriptions.
It is also important to test the questionnaires in different browsers and on different devices, including older versions, to ensure the content is displayed correctly.
WCAG Check
There are a number of specific points to consider to ensure that your questionnaire meets WCAG guidelines. Read here which parts of Crowdtech Survey require extra attention to comply with these standards.

Crowdtech Survey
While Crowdtech Insights allows you to create WCAG-compliant questionnaires, the Survey environment in which you create these questionnaires does not fully meet the WCAG guidelines. This does not fall under a legal requirement, as Crowdtech provides its software only to businesses/organisations (B2B).
